Natural Allergy Treatment for Pets

Positive Association Technique (PAT) is a natural allergy treatment that aims to reduce the symptoms of allergies, sensitivities and intolerances.

PAT is the end result of over twenty years of development and involves a combination of naturopathic, kinesiology and acupressure techniques.

What are common allergy symptoms in pets?

Sneezing, watery eyes and a runny nose are common allergy symptoms in humans, whereas pet allergy symptoms are more likely to be excessive scratching and body licking.

Prolonged scratching and licking can lead to open sores, welts, hair loss, skin pigmentation and a lot of distress for your four-legged friend.

Allergies in dogs and cats are common, and symptoms may include:

  • excessive scratching
  • excessive licking
  • red, inflamed skin
  • hair loss and dark skin pigmentation
  • recurring ear infections
  • weepy eyes and nose
  • asthma-like wheezing and respiratory problems (more often in cats)

What causes allergy symptoms in pets?

Substances enter your cat or dog's body via inhalation, ingestion, injection, parasites or direct contact, and cause reactions.

Common triggers of pet allergies include:

  • flea saliva
  • grasses, weeds and pollen
  • dust and dust mites
  • grains such as corn, rice and wheat
  • artificial colours, preservatives and flavourings in pet food
  • yeast, amines and sugars

How can we help with your pet's allergy symptoms?

Positive Association Technique (PAT) has been performed on humans since 2003 to help manage the symptoms of various allergic conditions such as Hayfever, Eczema, Asthma and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), and on dogs and cats since 2014.

PAT is based on the premise that allergies and sensitivities can come about from the body forming a negative association with a food or environmental substance, through negative conditioning. Negative conditioning can happen when you're exposed to a food or environmental substance while going through some sort of negative event; i.e. a physical or emotional stress.

Positive Association Technique (PAT) aims to reverse your pets' negative reaction to the substance, by using a positive conditioning effect.

PAT is a non-invasive holistic therapy, which:

  • draws on acupressure and kinesiology techniques
  • aims to re-train your pets body
  • may reduce reactions to food and environmental substances that may be causing or exacerbating your pets allergy symptoms
  • PAT cannot cure allergies. It is intended to decrease your pets reactions and help manage allergy-related symptoms. It is not intended to raise unrealistic expectations. If symptoms persist, consult your veterinarian.
