Positive Association Technique (PAT)
Positive Association Technique (PAT) is a non-invasive, natural allergy treatment performed by qualified Naturopaths at Health & Wellness Australia/Auckland.
PAT is based on a form of positive conditioning, utilising kinesiology and acupressure techniques to help re-train your body and relieve your reactions to food, airborne and chemical substances.
PAT has been performed in Australia since 2003, and New Zealand since 2007, on more than 25,000 clients to provide natural allergy relief.

step by step
The initial PAT consultation
1
muscle testing
Our Naturopaths will use a form of muscle testing (kinesiology) to assess your reactions to a wide range of food, airborne and chemical substances, depending on your symptoms.
2
Positive conditioning
Using a chiropractic massage tool, we’ll gently stimulate acupressure points down your back to help retrain your body’s response to the substance (e.g. dust mites).
3
Treatment planning
Most clients only require one PAT session for each substance group, so the number of sessions you require depends on how many are substances are contributing to your symptoms.

When working with children under 10 years old, we use one of the parents as “surrogate” muscle tester, then the PAT treatment component is the same.
Symptom relief is generally long-term, but this varies depending on the individual. We’ve received feedback anywhere from 6 months to 15 years!
Chronic stress or other underlying health conditions (e.g. autoimmune issues) can impact the longevity of relief and the frequency of ‘top-ups’.
